Gunsmith
The gunsmiths are traditionally Avalonian women, but some men have found their way into the profession. Though women are not the only individuals who make guns, their weapons are universally of a higher quality than manufactured weapons, and highly sought after by military personnel and those in other high-risk occupations. Gun's made by female gunsmiths are often called 'ladies' and are well known to be of superior make to other weapons. Avalonian firearms made by women are the only firearms which currently use advanced feed mechanisms, such as chain-fed or drum-fed weaponry. The weapons made by gunsmiths are imbued with the faith of the gunsmith, and have some of the smith's personality. Common manufactured weapons are not so unique or specialized. In recent years gunsmiths have made both 'ladies' and more common weapons, preferring to sell lesser weapons as their primary means of income and to reserve 'ladies' for buyers who they trust.
Career
Qualifications
Gunsmiths must be trained by a gunsmith. The original gunsmiths come from a now-destroyed nation, and so new gunsmiths are rare. Still, there are at least a few gunsmiths on each spire, and they often head manufacturing guilds in major cities. The best gunsmiths are women, but there is no reason a man can't become a gunsmith, if he can receive training from the infamously secretive masters of the profession.
Career Progression
Apprentice gunsmiths are rare, and so little is known of their career progression. Most gunsmiths head a manufacturing guild, and might take on a single apprentice when they reach an age where their legacy becomes important to them.
Payment & Reimbursement
Smithed weapons are expensive, but fortunately most other firearms are not. Especially advanced firearms are very expensive, and rare: drum-fed and belt-fed weapons are almost always smithed, and rarely created without a particular wielder in mind. Gunsmiths usually run a business of manufacturing lesser firearms which are sold en masse, and reserve the most potent weapons for high-paying customers, or personal friends.
Other Benefits
Gunsmiths have access to the most advanced weapons in the shattered lands, often have ties to Avalonian knightly orders and are usually quite wealthy.
