The City of Dim

The City of Dim is a sprawling Urban center, filled with the sounds of industry and struggling progress.

Demographics

Wealth varies by ward in Dim. The wealthier citizens enjoy the luxury of expendable income and large estates. The poor are resigned to a life in Charred Ward, and the less prosperous boroughs. Each of the large guilds are represented in the city, and guild members often live in the ward nearest their guildhall.

Government

Dim is ruled officially, by a mayor and city council, but is unofficially controlled by several crime barons.

Defences

Dim is surrounded by a high stone wall, dotted with towers. On hot days, the mist boils over the city walls like steam from a cauldron.

Industry & Trade

Trade comes from the south, east and west. Some of the older generations remember a time when Dim traded with the nation of Hyper-Borea to the north, but it has been ages since a caravan has headed in that direction.

Infrastructure

Dim's wealth is built upon the Iron Church of the bloodletters, and the chem they provide, drawn from the delve in central Dim - one of the largest of its kind - and from their congregation.

Assets

Dim is a wealthy city.

Guilds and Factions

The bloodletters, belltollers, weldsmen, and gunsmiths each have a guildhall in Dim, as do many other minor guilds.

History

Dim was not a major city before the shattering. The major city in the region before the shattering was further to the north, in the lands that are now Hyper-Borea. When the shattering took place, many of the ancient buildings fell, and this made the large city too dangerous to inhabit. Dim was the nearest suitable alternative.

Architecture

The buildings in Dim are mostly brick, and many of them are pre-shattering, but none predate the Bitter Change.

Geography

Dim is near the center of Wilting Spire.

Natural Resources

Dim is surrounded by land suitable for farming, and trades in grain. It imports wood from the north, and provides brick to the surrounding area.
