The Nexus

In Jinn culture, the Nexus is connecting point of a prophecy put forward by The Architect millennia earlier. Each piece of the Architect’s plan came to pass in exactly the manner he described:

  • The Consortium of Intelligent Species would experience a decay in relations and disband following the disappearance from known space of the Vaa.
  • A thousand years later, a plague would strike the Jinn that would decimate their population and affect their ability to procreate. They would decline over the centuries to follow, threatened by extinction.
  • The Jinn would become full partners in the use of Builder technology as the most trusted allies of the Auk'kheem.
  • The Naga would declare war on the Builders. No race among the Consortium would remain untouched by the conflict, which would last approximately a hundred Earth years.
  • The Auk'kheem would be destroyed. Following the annihilation of the Builders, the Naga would disperse themselves throughout the galaxy until they disappeared. The reason for this racial suicide was not known.
  • At the appropriate time, the Jinn would send a Builder ship to Earth. The timing for this operation would be fixed upon the discovery of the Nexus by a Jinn representative during the month of June in Chaco Canyon, early in Earth's 21st Century.

As the pivotal character in this prophecy, the Nexus became a cultural celebrity among the Jinn. His discovery signaled hope for the future of both the Jinn and humanity at large.
“Joining of shai-ku-shai does not normally draw such attention save from families involved, but for couple to be human…”  Okh grinned and turned beaming evergreen irises on Harper.  “… and to be Nexus and Khahavari, well!”  The old Jinn positively glowed with secret pleasure.  “That not to be missed!”
