New Avon: Sabbarton

Sabbarton was one of the first villages inhabiting the northern region of New Avon during the early days of colonization. As the villagers broke off from the corporate leadership controlling New Avon Starport, they invested in a mutual micro-terraformer to make the inhospitable terrain suitable for their families.   Ever since, they have been a stable though relatively isolated part of New Avon culture. It is rare to see more than one booth or truck coming out of Sabbarton to Market Day in New Avon Starport even on a good harvest. The microterraformer originally purchased was rated to have gone out years ago and the terraformer is most notable for surviving on the town's stubbornness alone.

Krasian Occupation

During the Krasian Meritocracy occupation in 6:2352GS, the villagers were unable to comply with Commander Garry Larson's mandated taxes. Their inability was quickly met with brutality and they were treated as an example to force the other villages into line. The village was surrounded by Krasian Fists and ambushed into immediate submission, the residents were rounded up, and they were held captive as Krasian forces erected a large walled fortress and massive metallic building at the edge of their town. This small fort, dubbed the The Hold, quickly became known planet-wide as the destination for all resistance and "malcontents" among the population. The residents of Sabbarton became the first to be held at the Hold until they were officially reported as having been shipped off for service in the Krasian Colonies.   After the erection of the The Hold, Sabbarton lay empty. The Krasian forces responsible for the defense and maintenance of the fort took up residence there, however offerings of permanent housing outside of the infamous Hold quickly became a desirable reward for Blackshirts that proved themselves valuable to the Occupation. Now, the town has been fully reinhabited by family members of Blackshirts who proudly hold the Krasian-signed deeds to their new family properties.
