Seraph

Not the sort of angel you'd find in a bible, but rather, giant, stellar, kaiju-like cosmic dragons. They are stars, planets, asteroids, and comets brought to life. All that is known for certain is that one has caused both the creation and the current state of ruin of the TX08-C star system.   They are still a widely unknown entity that at present cannot be further studied, as of the two that remain within TX08-C's boundaries, one has progressed onto another life stage with vastly different composition, needs, and behaviours... While the other is heavily scarred, feral, and still hellbent on destroying what remains of the other and of TX08-C. These two are Samael and Israfil respectively.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Their Cor is their main feature, a condensed orb of molten energy, not unlike that of a miniature sun. It is the heart and brains of the Seraph, formed by numerous Angels that have merged their consciousness to form a gestalt.   Predominantly draconic in appearance, traits either lean towards more reptilian or more avian- in some rare cases, more insectoid as well. The base body plan always includes at least one set of wings, there is no maximum to wings nor is there a set placement for them as long as the first set is placed at roughly the chest location. Their hide is always pure white in colour and the body itself is segmented like an insect's, with the underbelly and/or markings being tan/beige close to their accent colour.   Cor colour varies among individuals, as does body plan (which includes limb type, limb count, feathered or membraned wing, etc...) Membranes, feathers (even if not attached or a part of the wings), and accents are of Cor colour.   Cor colour is hypothesised to be a direct result of the Seraph’s diet composition, while body plan may be an observational effect.

Genetics and Reproduction

Seraphs don't appear to reproduce sexually, at least not in a manner that we humans are used to picturing...   Seraphs must consume cosmic matter to maintain their Cor, a heart-like molten orb not unlike that of a star, comprised of Angel(s) Cor(s). At any given time, the collective consciousness that is the Seraph can release a wave of energy from their Cor (See: Coronal Ejection) wherein at the same time they release some Angels alongside it… These Angels in turn can feed on cosmic matter to grow and split in a manner similar to mitosis, wherein eventually through connecting consciousness with their new selves or the Angels of that they come across, can form an entirely new Seraph.   Another way new Seraphs (or Angels) may form is when a Seraph has either been deprived or overloaded with energy to their Cor, this is usually a result of infighting from displays of dominance. All Seraphs have the ability to harness their Cor and the surrounding ambient energy and focus it into a beam (See: Solar Flare). This beam, when aimed at another Seraph’s Cor, forces them to absorb all the energy behind the beam directed at them, while also depriving the initiator of their own energy. There is a threshold on each end of this spectrum, where when met, causes the affected Seraph to release massive waves of energy while also progressing them to the next life stage. This wave of energy (See: Supernova) collects, causing the formation of a sun, which in turn further allows planets to form. Deep within these planets, their cores have been seeded by the defeated Seraph’s release of energy, and have a chance to form into an Angel that may grow into a Seraph, or a Seraph outright if left to gestate long enough.   There is however, a chance that these planets remain barren, and function as usual.   Outside of this above mentioned, Seraphs are capable of crafting stellar bodies and creating star systems by themselves without having to release their energy in such a catastrophic way… However, such creations will always remain barren in terms of Seraph/Angel replication as they have not been seeded by the extreme release of energy.

Dietary Needs and Habits

A Seraph’s main food source is cosmic energy… Whether by feeding upon stars or stellar objects of their size, or by feeding upon the younger stage of their kin, Angels. Seraphs can freely adjust their size to be smaller upon reaching a certain Cor mass, and in this case, their dietary requirements scale with them… It’s possible for a terrestrial Seraph to subsist off of hunted animals, while a Seraph of its age and mass, although the size of a star, would need to feed on planets and passing comets. In this case, when hibernating or faced with the need to conserve energy, Seraphs will adjust their size to something much smaller than their true size.

Additional Information

Average Intelligence

Sentient, sapient... Although via trauma, Seraphs can regress into a feral mindset.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Seraphs are usually named after various biblical angels- Samael and Israfil for example.

Courtship Ideals

“Courtship” is typically territorial and dominance displays- the defeated Seraph seeds the newborn star system with the potential of it forming new Angels and Seraphs.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Although capable of speech in the same manner that parrots learn and replicate, a Seraph's natural vocalizations are instrument sounds, with the specific instrument varying for each individual. The most common vocalization is church bells.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Seraphs that have handcrafted star systems that have developed life (especially if it becomes sentient) often adopt a god-like, caretaker/tormentor relationship with their creations that varies amongst individuals. Some may refuse to interact with their creations at all, preferring to observe in silence.
Scientific Name
Versipellis Stellaris Implexis
Origin/Ancestry
Angel
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
The main body is always pure white, underbellies are beige/tan tinted faintly the colour of the Seraph's Cor. Accents, markings, feathers, membranes, eye colour, etc are always Cor colour. The appearance of markings, marking shapes, and Cor colour varies per individual.
