Aegan Universal Coordinated Time

After colonizing other planets, there was a need for a standardized timezone across all planets to ensure proper dating and coordination amongst the UFA and other governmental entities that spanned the system. Thus the Aegans developed the UCT- Universal Coordinated Time- based primarily on the current time of their home planet, Meylara.   The UCT or Stardate can be broken down into sections, let's start with an example date from the real world: March 20th, 2024 - 3/20/2024 (or 20/3/24 for international readers) with the current hour being 10:21 PM   The Stardate would be expressed as such: 2024S 03P f5C f7T 00110010 00110001W
Real-World Unit UCT Unit RW Example UCT Example Conversion Used
Year (yr) Season (S) 2024 2024S Decimal (no conversion needed)
Month Period (P) 03rd (March) 03P Decimal (no conversion needed)
Day Cycle (C) 20th f5C Hexidecimal (improperly)
Hour (hr) Term (T) 10hrs (PM) f7T Hexidecimal (improperly)
Minute (min) Wait (W) 21mins 00110010 00110001W Binary
Second (sec) Tick (Tk) 53sec 00110101 00110011Tk Binary
Using this, the official Stardate for the calamity known as Starfall would have been: 1717S 12P f6C 3T 00110000 00110000W 00110000 00110000Tk, or, December 21th 1717, 3:00:00AM.   However, when dating things such as documents, emails, and perhaps journal entries- unless the specific time down to the seconds is required, Ticks are often omitted.

Utility

Invented to better facilitiate communications between planets that have vastly different time and day-night cycles.

Social Impact

Civilians tended to use their planet's local timezone/dating scheme, rather than UCT. All bodies of government, as well as the military and various institutions utilized UCT due to their interplanetary reach.
Access & Availability
Available for everyone, anyone can look up the current UCT regardless of status.
