House Briarwood

A noble house originally from Wildemount. At some point in the past, Silas Briarwood died, and Delilah Briarwood made some manner of deal with the death demigod Vecna, seemingly for Silas' resurrection.   The Briarwoods usurped rule of Whitestone from House De Rolo during Percy's childhood in a violent and unpopular coup using mercenaries.   This was seemingly done in order to attain and maintain long-term access to the Ziggurat underneath Whitestone, which they attempted to utilize to perform some manner of ritual on Winter's Crestin 811 PD. However, Vox Machina forced them to start the ritual too soon, and interrupted Delilah Briarwood during the process of performing it.   It is also notable that the Briarwoods attempted to coerce and dominate Percy's sister Cassandra De Rolo. It's not entirely clear why they left her alive, possibly to someday give their rule an air of legitimacy. Either way, Percy and Vox Machina managed to flip Cassandra back against the Briarwoods, and she was ultimately the one who slayed Delilah Briarwood.   The ritual that the Briarwoods began left a (seemingly) stable Siphon hanging above the Ziggurat.
