The Converging Valleys (Con-Va)

Written by PaladinGod8

Geography

The Conva is an ocean of sands that flow and spin through the environment and climate with its dry, arid and peach textures. It is the largest desert to have existed in the Unhellish Planes and is the largest mass of land on the Overworld, far exceeding the likes of the entire Bountiful Planes.

The most notable feature of the Conva resides in its very name, the Converging Valleys. There are two chasms of ravines that are situated through the North-East corner of the Desert until the South of the Desert. These ravines converge to form the artificial river that flows through the Deserts.

The Conva's geography can only be described as specks of diversity as it is largely a barren wasteland that inhospitably burns its residents during the day and freezes them into ice-husks in the night. However, within certain points of the Desert you can see certain diverse ranges of terrain, especially with the lushous forests of the Forest Flower, the only true Oasis in the Conva. Or the Ice-cold, mountainous terrain of the Dragon Walls.

The sands of the Conva vary in density, however the general consistency remains that most of it is traversable by foot and most races will not sink into the ocean of sand that is the Conva. However, this is not true for the Sea of Sands locking the Conva within itself at the North.

Ecosystem

Most creatures roaming the Conva have a tendency to prey on each other, after all the dunes whisper an unspoken rule: 'eat or be eaten.' Most creatures tend to also burrow through the fine sands of the Conva, being able to smoothly swim through the earth as if it were ocean.

On normal days, the Conva is as quiet a place as an adventurer without tennitus would expect. The predators of the sands must remain the utmost keen hearing to prevent their smart prey from escapign their clutches and to satiate the hunger they put up with for days at a time. This creates an sense of uneasiness while traversing, as the deserts are dead silent.

Most creatures of the Conva make their nests and homes within existing caves inside of large moutainous and sheltered regions or deep under the soft sand of the Conva. This is to avoid the various sandstorms that appear randomly throughout the Conva as a result of the MaCata destabilising existing climate.

The Conva is unable to bring about rain despite the various blue of the skies that tease at the residents on a daily basis. Hence, the Sandtadel conjures artificial storms to water the Conva and ensure that weather patterns are maintained, for certain species of flora and fauna to remain living. However, their attempts at playing the Triune will not go without consequences, as the existing wildlife turn to the huge sources of Mana that resides in these magical and aritifical clouds, causing mass hordes of dangerous monsters to travel in the path of the weather.

This is not all bad though, as the Aureus Paladin Company and Conva Allied States Guild issues bi-seasonal competitions to clear the monsters of the Rain, known as the Festival of the Hunt.

Ecosystem Cycles

The Conva has no known cycles for its ecosystems as it mainly remains as an arid and barren wasteland of a desert. However, when the Great Mages of the Sandtadel conjure storms through the Conva, the ecosystem responds in kind with hordes of monsters following after the mana residing within the clouds.

This rainy season within the Conva is both a blessing and curse to the lands, and is far too artificial to be called a cycle of the ecosytem rather than a man-made phenomena.

Localized Phenomena

The other main feature of the Conva, besides its incredibly hostile living conditions and the two artificial ravines that are situated through it, is its entrance.

The Conva is locked from the Bountiful Planes, and by proxy, the rest of the Unhellish Planes due to a strange phenomena localised at the entirety of its North – the Sea of Sands.

Despite the Conva's own alternative title as the Sea of Sands, due to its reputation of burrowing monsters and its geography as a desert, the Northern Sea of Sands is a true ocean of monstrous proportions. It is a constant and violent sandstorm for any intrepid and brave adventurers that brace themselves and grit their teeth through a journey within the Sea of Sands.

Most are caught dead from the sheer hostility of the Sandstorms, Triune forbid they encounter the Dankstorms. Some are able to stave off the desire to lose their life by the second week, while others are not fortunate enough to have the will. Very few are able to escape, but they are barely considered anything more than a madman or half a person if they truly do.

The Sea of Sands contains various hostile climate and require at a vehicle the standard of a nation-wide fleet warship to traverse. On top of this cruel climate, the physical terrain of the sands morph from the various sand storms that appear and rend through the vessels travelers use to fare through the storms, causing their bearings to be lost have the time. However, this is not the most dangerous aspect of the Sea of Sands. If one has the bravery to touch the sands of this sea, they will immediately meet a truly gruesome death, pulled in to never be seen ever again.

The Sea of Sands is also home to some of the most dangerous creatures the Conva has to offer, hence the general status of heroes going to slay various monsters of epic proportions within the Sea of Sands; for them to return victorious or to have their name lost into the sands of time. Some of these creatures include but are not limited to the Conqueror Scorpion, Zinogres of Zanibar, Black-Blot Desert Gluttons, Greater Dunefins and the Sand Kraken.

Fauna & Flora

A wide range of fauna can be found in these dunes, ranging from the Barren Burrowers that prey on caravan riders, to the mighty scales of the Emperor Scorpions that occassionally appear to grace the presence of unsuspecting villages and slaughter them mercilessly to feed its young.

Not all is death and gore though, ancient sages of the long-forgotten times also live in these arid lands. The Canyon Claws hide amongst the various stone-faced dunes to meditate in silence and observe the world until their final moments, where they provide for their precedessors by becoming the very homes and mountains they live within.

Not much flora can be found in a desert, but common cactuses are spread far and thin throughout these sandy dunes. Desert Lilies and dead bushes can also be ocassionally seen through one's travels. However, the true flora and sight to behold has to be the Forest Flower, the largest and most concentrated amount of elemental energy the Conva has to offer. It is a raw carve of Dendro that stores the vast majority of the Conva's natural plant and wildlife.

Tourism

Most denizens of the Unhellish Planes wish the Conva to be the last place they go to, given its truly cruel and grueling living conditions. However, the rich see a vastly different world.

The Oasis, the city at the peripherals of the Forest Flower, truly earns its name as the one and only Oasis in this large desert. It is the wealthiest city in the entire Conva and has economic prowess comparable with the Peripheral City of Aurel. Not only does it boast some of the best alcohol the Conva has to offer, it is a luxurious and walled city of splendour and wonder. The Main Street of the Oasis is littered to the brim with various precious and niche stores that strech for kilometers, an endless shopping district for the wealthy.
