Folkenfort

Folkenfort is the main headquarters for the order known as the Folksguard.

Demographics

The fortress known as the Folkenfort is mainly the headquarters of the Folksguard and also functions as the kingdoms highest security prison. Thus many of the inhabitants are dangerous prisoners, held in the deep dungeons underneath the ancient fort. Besides the many guards who man the prisons and the officers who delegate and rule the order from this seat of power, most of the inhabitants of the fort are made up of the folksguards families who live in the houses surrounding the fort and work the lands around it. These are constantly being replaced and moved around as the soldiers are being relocated and sent out to other places around the kingdom.    There is also a group of guardian Nagas who make their home in the prison of the Folkenfort. These are the first line of defence against those who manage to make it out of their cells.

Infrastructure

Folkenfort mostly consists of a massive stone fortress, made of dark grey stone with red tile roofs on the many towers. Inside the fort, it is near impossible to navigate oneself without one of the magical amulets given to those who man the fort. This magic scrambles the mind of those who enter the fort, making it hard for them to get any spacial awareness or awareness of how much time is passing. Prolonged exposure drives the prisoners insane.    Houses and farms surround the fort, with a sort of village in front of the fortress gate, following the main road to and from the fort.

Assets

Even though Folkenfort is mostly self-sustaining with little to no export, there are many carts and supplies that arrive daily with the contributions from the Lunate Council to the order. There is also a constant come and go of prisoners. Mostly pirates captured by the coast who are too important to execute.   There are still a few stores in the small town.
Agostina's Goods: The shop is a two-storey building of stone walls, with a reinforced wooden door and dwarf-wrought iron furnishings. It is dimly lit by a few candles and fairly shabby. The shopkeeper is a triton named Vleshyn. She was once an adventurer, but retired to marry and raise a family.
Folkly Groceries: The shop is a single storey building of polished marble, with several leaded glass windows. A small dragon's skull hangs over the hearth. The shopkeeper is a young male Human named Cairn.
Iola's Colts and Fillies: The shop is a single storey timber and brick building, with a yellow tile roof and a smooth stone floor. It is dimly lit by a few candles and fairly shabby. The shopkeeper is a gullible female human named Iola. She checks each sale with a black dog named Ereth.   There is also a tavern and an inn the village.
The Rusty Sword: The tavern is a single storey building of timber and brick walls, with a heather-thatched roof. Accomodations consist of several hammocks in the common room. The inn was rebuilt recently after a devastating fire. The innkeeper is a tall male human named Atman. He is suspiciously inquisitive to all but the Folksguard. This tavern is the regular spot for most of the folksguard working the fort.
The Stool and Spirit: The inn is a two-storey timber and brick building, with a small walled yard and garden and a tiled mosaic floor. A collection of fine tapestries hangs on the walls. Accomodations consist of several large rooms with beds and woolen mattresses. The most popular inn for travellers and most of the villagers. The innkeeper is a apathetic human male named Scruffy. He is the former captain of the Folksguard.
