Cardinal Estate
The Cardinal Estate is the large complex housing the Chancellery of the Republic. It encompasses both workspaces for officials and foreign envoys and living quarters for most of its employees. It is infamously difficult to navigate, mostly due to its internal system of permitted areas; most bureaucrats never see another part of the building aside from the one they are supposed to be in as well as the ones they have to navigate through to get to their destination. The section of the Consular Vicariate is located in the far reaches of the Estate, and non-employees must sign draconian contracts to even pass through as legitimate petitioners.
It is a richly decorated building of marble. The steps leading up to its main entry are fifty metres wide and guarded at all times by a Republican Guard detachment. The black-and-white flag of the Chancellery is hanged on very public display on nearly every pillar and a grand statue of Lady Justice welcomes new guests in the massive foyer.
