Visalia Leonsen
Queen Visalia Leonsen I
It takes a rare individual to build a nation single-handed. If their nation stands the test of time, then they are often revered by its people. Such is the case for Visalia Leonsen, the fist queen of Tamasia.
Physical Description
Body Features
As would be expected from a woman who received such devotion, Visalia was a great beauty. Her famous likeness can be found on statues all over Tamasia, as well as the Tamasian gold piece. She famously possessed a long brown mane and soft brown eyes.
Apparel & Accessories
To most, the image of the first queen involves the resplendent finery she is typically portrayed in. History paints a very different picture, however. As a ranger, she typically wore very plain clothes, often in earth tones. This did not change much even when crowned queen.
During her campaign, she was most known for carrying a bow and using it with legendary skill, only in part due to the Bracers of Archery she wore. She was also skilled in the use of a longsword, and was almost never without one.

Personal history
Visalia was born in the family home of the Leonsen family, a cabin in a secluded part of the Grass Sea. Both of her parents were rangers, and they passed on their skills to their 4 children. As the youngest, Visalia's skills were the least practiced.
At the time, a long-standing civil war was ripping through southern Vald. Many of the area's lords were fighting in an attempt to create a kingdom of their own. There was so much distrust that the family of rangers that wanted nothing more than to be left alone were treated as spies.
One day when Visalia was 12, she was hunting in the plains. When she returned to her home, her family was already dead, and some soldiers of the nearby hamlet of Wenvalt were burning the bodies. She managed to kill them all, and swore to herself that she would see the war ended.
She knew those affected the hardest were the peasants. She appeared to those of Wenvalt right away, and appealed to them for help. They laughed her out of town. No matter how much they suffered at the hands of their lord, they wouldn't listen to a mere child.
An intelligent girl, she knew she would get no better reaction anywhere else. She decided that she would bide her time until she would be heeded. She took to hunting gnolls as a means to improve her skills, protect her people, and earn their good will. She became a legend among the gnolls, who named her "Hunter of Hunters".
At the age of 16, she was confident she would be seen as a woman. Again she appealed to the town of Wenvalt. This time they listened, but were unwilling to risk themselves. The lord's men came to conscript more to fight, and Visalia fought them off single-handedly.
Now a hero, the townspeople followed Visalia wholeheartedly, but the lord's castle was impenetrable except with siege equipment they did not posses. The young ranger came up with a simple plan: some would disguise themselves as the slain soldiers and the rest would be the conscripts the lord wanted, and they would strike when taken to him.
The plan worked flawlessly, and they struck so quickly that their noble target and his defenders were dead before any alarm was raised. As most of the soldiers were conscripted and held no love for their tyrannical ruler, Visalia was able to take over the castle without shedding any more blood. She was dubbed the Lady of Wenvalt the very next day.
Her family was finally avenged, but that was not what she swore to do. She joined in the fighting herself in an attempt to end it, but she would do it differently. She would be kind to the people of the land. This position got her a monumental amount of support, as peasants began flocking to her banner.
Those she opposed would often face peasant revolt as soon as her army marched into the area. This alone brought her victory after victory. Even when she fought openly, her unorthodox tactics often led to an unexpected victory. Soon her territory was among the largest.
Still she had one main obstacle: the city of Tamas. The lord of that place had the most troops, the city was well-supplied, and the walls were high and strong. The only option would have been to starve the city out, an option that Visalia was far from comfortable with, due to the suffering it would cause the citizens.
Fortunately, the problem of taking the city would take care of itself. It is said that as soon as the lord of Tamas caught sight of his beautiful opponent, he fell instantly in love with her. He offered her rulership of the city in exchange for her hand in marriage, and she agreed.
With her forces combined with those of her new husband, no nobles remaining in the war could have ever hoped to stand against them. It wasn't long before all others surrendered. Visalia was crowned queen in Tamas not long after, and the nation of Tamasia was truly born.
She ruled a prosperous reign and was beloved by her people. With the birth of her children she even founded a dynasty that would last over a century. She died while riding across the grasslands by losing control of her horse and breaking her neck from the fall.
