Theane
Long before any mortal age, two identical sisters formed from the nothing that came before. These were Theane and Estae, and they loved the sea and the life within it that they chose to make it their home and bless it with their presence.
Theane's heart was filled with sorrow, and so she fell into the dark depths. She found the solitude of her sunless home relaxing at first. The peace suited her and she was, if not happy, content.
Eventually her contentment slowly became a deep, despairing loneliness. This sorrow grew until it finally became too much to bear, so she cut out her heart and rose into the oversky.
And so one of the Hearts of the Sea sings its sad song lost in the inky depths.
Divine Domains
Theane is a goddess of sorrow and darkness, so most of her priests are of the Grave and Darkness domains. She is also a goddess of the sea, and many clerics choose the Nature domain instead.
Divine Realm
Both Theane and her sister Estae share the same realm, Insalamast'vesal, or "The Eternal Sea" in elven. Their realm is one of the few divine realms in the multiverse that is not in the Outer Planes of the Great Wheel. Instead, it rests in the Elemental Plane of Water. The first and most obvious distinction Insalamast'vesal has from the rest of the plane is the sweet honey flavor of the water. Often, that is the only indication to travelers that they've entered a divine realm at all. The other main difference is that it gets dark in the lower portion of the realm. In the dark depths lies Theane's city of Last'amel, or "sorrow" in elven. Unlike its counterpart on the upper part of the realm, Last'amel is somber and subdued. Therefore, it is the smaller of the two. One distinct trait of Insalamast'vesal is that neither Estae nor Thehave ever been seen in person.Divine Symbols & Sigils
The goddesses of the sea share a holy symbol. They are symbolized by two circles, one higher than the other. Both are flanked by four semicircles symbolizing the song of their hearts.
Worshippers
As a goddess of sorrow, the worship of Theane is far less popular than that of her sister. Most are drawn to the joy and light she represents. Those that do worship Theane, for the most part suffer some great sorrow, or have loved ones that do. The worshippers of Theane have a reputation for being grim and dour. Proportionally, a larger population of tritons worship Theane than other races. Unlike her sister, almost no drylanders are followers of Theane. As a goddess of the dark depths, this is to be expected. After all, very few even can reach those depths, and even fewer actually do.Tenets of Faith
Theane is a goddess of sorrow, but her portfolio focuses on the alleviation of sorrow and are strictly prohibited from causing it. Her worshipers offer aid and counseling for the grieving. Her priests also serve a lesser role as caretakers of the dead.

Body Features
Ever since the goddesses of the sea took out their hearts, neither has a body. As such, neither one is depicted in a humanoid form. They are either symbolized with their disembodied hearts, or more rarely as stars, since they joined the stars in the oversky.
