Estae

According to myth, two goddesses came into being, identical sisters named Estae and Theane. Both loved the sea and viewed all things in it as their children. They made their homes in the sea and blessed all life within.   Estae's heart was filled with joy, so she made her home in the bright and shallow waters. She swam with the fish, frollicked with the dolphins, and enjoyed life to its fullest.   Tragically, this made her blind to the sorrow of her sister. When Theane cut out her own heart, Estae was shocked and heartbroken. So she might keep her sister company, she too cut out her heart and joined her sister in the oversky.   Even now to this day, both Hearts of the Sea sing their mournful song, so that the world might never forget.

Divine Domains

Most of her clerics view her as a goddess of light and joy, and so often choose the Life and Light domains. Like her sister, she is a goddess of the sea, and so many priests choose the Nature domain instead.

Divine Realm

Unlike most of the other gods in the multiverse, Estae and her sister don't have a realm on the Outer Planes. Instead, their realm rests in the Elemental Plane of Water. The realm's name is Insalamast'vesal, or "The Eternal Sea" in the language of the elves.   Normally, the waters of the Plane of Water glow, preventing there from being dark depths like there is in earthly oceans. Insalamast'vesal, however, does turn from the glowing waters common to the plane to the dark depths near the bottom of the realm. In addition, the waters of the realm taste of honey wherever one might travel. This effect fades if this water is taken elsewhere.   Suspended on the upper side of Insalamast'vesal is the city of En'est, "joy" in the elven tongue. This is the city of Estae, and as such is a beautiful place filled with bustling markets and lively parties. Unlike with many divine realms, neither Estae nor Theane has ever been seen there.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The goddesses of the sea share a holy symbol. They are symbolized by two circles, one higher than the other. Both are flanked by four semicircles symbolizing the song of their hearts.

Worshippers

Of the goddesses of the sea, Estae's worship is more popular. Her focus of joy and light makes her worship much more attractive to most. Indeed, worshippers of Theane tend to be pitied when their devotion is discovered, as they are assumed to be suffering a deep sorrow, which is usually the case.   Unlike her sister, she is frequently worshipped on the surface, as well. Drylanders, as opposed to the ocean-dwellers tend to worship her as a goddess of nature instead of joy, most likely due to the popularity of Dilesseye. A vast majority of drylander prayers to Estae are from sailors asking for calm seas.

Tenets of Faith

Estae is primarily a goddess of joy. As such, her worshipers are tasked with spreading joy wherever they may go. They believe that no heart should be without a song and no face should be without a smile.

Physical Description

Body Features

Unlike most gods of the Twin Worlds Pantheon, neither Estae nor her sister are ever depicted bodily. Since they are said to have sacrificed their bodies when they took out their hearts, the Heart of Estae is usually the only actual depiction seen. Occasionally, they are simply depicted as stars since they joined the stars in the oversky.
