The Tomb of the Unknown Wyrm

Hidden amongst the artefacts collected by the Vatican is the epitaph of a hunge tomb found by the Roman Legion in the Central Massif. It came from a rock strewn mountainside with the remains of the external tomb. Latin records state it was found in the area about 134 AD and most of it was damaged over the millennia by rockslides, snow, ice and rain. The majority of the tomb complex proper lies buried below with no known access, at least none found in the intervening centuries.   The epitaph is carved out of stone itself and depicts a wyrm-like / dragon-like creature and a circular disk with the following written:   RIITE MHIREL TOERET ME ORY INTRE JH WE   The language it is written in is unknown though it seems to reflect a mix of other known letters. The exact pronunciation and meaning has never been translated.   Through the use of linguists and magic, it is estiumated to be a newly discovered Draconic dialect, and may mean the following:   FEAR ME FOR MY BREATH BRINGS FIERY DEATH   If this is true, and if the colouring on some of the scales of the epitiph, it is likely a red dragon of some note was once buried there. Recent events concerning Birgin the Winter Storm, and the Avatar of Leviathan, indicate it may need to be monitored if not investigated further. With no-one knowing what lies buried in this site, it may result in a fifty-fifty result. Either something is down there permanently dead and the tomb can be explored & exploited, or it may awaken some ancient evil that can cause untold damage.   So far the Order of the End Times have been made aware of this, after the recent dragon sightings, and the rise in strange goings on in the world. Appropriate responses are being raised by the Order and it's allies in the off-chance either way. Even if the site is safe there may be a chance to learn more about the draconic forces that do lie waiting to reawaken.
"We need to send in those supposed experts. You know the ones, the group from Eschbach. If you can get them to calm down and swabbling amongst themselves....maybe they can make something off it. Not the first time Lord Fyrwin has sorted out trouble in the Central Massif. And twa at least dodgy characters related to the Thieves of Frankia. Any bother at the tomb our own spies can report back what they see or find."   Bishop Richleu, Cardinal attache to the Order of the End Times.
