Set
Osiris and Set were the two inhabited planets in their star system. They were independent from each other with quite different philosophies. While Osiris had a rich ecosystem, with agriculture and were technologically advanced, Set was for the most part barren desert and the people starved while their rulers lived in luxury and and excess. When times were the hardest Osiris tried to provide aid to the people of Set, but the rulers there often kept the relief for themselves.
The people of Set made many attempts to conquer Osiris over the millennia, but their armies were weak, poorly trained and starving, and most of the soldiers only signed up to get the opportunity to defect to Osiris as soon as they landed, and so each attempted invasion failed.
The last Pharaoh of Set eventually gave up and ordered the few scientists left on Set to develop a weapon that would tear their neighbor planet to pieces, inspired by the mythological characters that their worlds was named after. The scientists came up with a device that would cause Osiris and its moon to tear each other apart through mutual tidal forces. Before they used it against Osiris they tested the weapon on the moon of Set and unwittingly destroyed themselves instead.
