Landing Craft

The Artemis Class and Kerberos Class ships of Trident Coalition Space Fleet carry a number of these in launch bays on the lower decks.

They are used to land troops on a planet in an invasion. Each of these vessels have room for a platoon, and have ramps on either side, for the troops to exit the vehicle, once it’s on the ground.

The mothership will align itself so that the ventral side faces the surface of the planet, and inside the launch bay they open a fold in space that has its other end about five meters above ground, and then they drop the ship through the fold, without even using thrusters to soften the landing. That’s how the ships got their nickname “Spine Crushers.” They've taken the concept of a "Drop Ship" a little too literally.
