Hercules Thompson
Hercules Thompson was deeply inspired by the great explorer Nehemiah Egghorn, of Sisyphus Prime.
He never achieved much, and the people who knew him laughed at his failures behind his back. He never even left his home planet, Prometheus, which was already fully explored already.
Hercules was a boastful windbag, mostly talk and little action and not too bright. That’s what the people who knew him said when they were asked to say something nice about him. What they said when they were not nice can’t be repeated in polite society.
His one “achievement” was naming Lake Nuwattah-Nuwattah and even that came from not hearing what the guy running towards him was actually shouting at him, and he never got a chance to correct it as he just wrote the name on a sign, stuck it in the ground and then dove off the cliff edge. He died long before the rescue party could climb down to him.
