Gamma bombs and aerosolized Banner-Ross Serum placed around Los Angeles by Samuel Sterns and The Alliance detonate, turning much of the population of central LA into Gamma Mutates.
The day was saved by Bruce Banner and Betty Ross, who, with the help of Clint Barton, Helen Cho, and much of the Alliance, who regretted their earlier actions, were able to manufacture and distribute a cure.
