Glowtail Climbers
A demonic beast that roams the grasslands of the Demon Realm.
Basic Information
Anatomy
A lemur with four arms and only one eye. Its prehensile tail ends in a bioluminescent bulb, and it has sharp claws for climbing.
Genetics and Reproduction
Glowtails reproduce sexually, with a gestation period of one year.
Growth Rate & Stages
Glowtails reach maturity at ten years of age. Young glowtails lack their namesake - their lack of bioluminescence keeps them hidden from predators.
Ecology and Habitats
Glowtails live in Hangman Willow trees, which are typically near hotsprings.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Glowtails are omnivores and scavengers, usually getting meat from the prey of Hangman Willows while eating the fruit of foliage that grows under the Willow.
Behaviour
Glowtails are nocturnal animals that range the grasslands and mountains of the Demon Realm alone - attempting to be seen by larger predators they can lead back to their protective home. They use various calls to communicate with each other and draw the attention of potential prey - many imitating sounds of distress.
Additional Information
Domestication
There is a domesticated variety of glowtail that is kept as a pet - its bioluminescence is dimmer but spread across the rest of its body rather than restricted to its tail. It has been bred for more beautiful patterns of glowing stripes, and is often kept by scholars and weavers to provide light for late-night work.
There is a second domesticated variety kept by beasthunters which lacks any bioluminescence - they are used by scouts, able to warn of danger without being seen.
Uses, Products & Exploitation
Wild glowtail meat is seen as a delicacy.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Glowtails have acute hearing and a keen sense of smell.
Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms
