Personal history

Feyl was born to a Lesser Noble family, and never had any particular ambitions. His family members usually ended up being attendants to higher-ranking nobles, so much of his education was geared toward that. Etiquette and intrigue were things he enjoyed greatly, so he was well suited to his family’s ambitions.   His cousin Exka, however, wanted to be a soldier. Their family was against it, but Exka often snuck out of the castle to train or watch the soldiers, and Feyl - being around the same age - was often the one sent to find her.   In this way, he met Jurao - the nephew of one of the castle’s civil smiths that often helped Exka sneak out of the castle and covered for her absence. Despite their difference in station and clashing personalities, Feyl and Jurao ended up forming a friendship - as Feyl felt he couldn’t leave Jurao to fumble with social nuance he didn’t understand. Jurao was actually grateful for this - as his aunt was not the best at helping him understand why others did the things they did.   Feyl was very good at understanding other people - it was a necessity to navigating court politics, after all. He wasn’t always the best at getting along with them, but he still understood them.   When Jurao and Exka successfully joined the army, Feyl thought he would be done with the man - they’d no longer have cause to run into each other while running in different circles, after all.   So for a few centuries, Feyl did nothing but bounce between social events and try to improve his standing with other nobles. While he was seeking a higher ranked lordis to become the attendant of, actually doing so was still a far way off for him as a young adult.   But when newly made officer Jurao showed up at a social event for the first time, Feyl found himself right back at his friend’s side - smoothing over social foibles and explaining the reasonings of others. This time, he also started teaching Jurao etiquette - becoming more insistent when he noticed the way Minaz, daughter of the Demon General of the time, deferred to him.   This turned out to be prudent when Jurao became the next Demon General - and even more so when he later Ascended to Demon King. While most higher ranking nobles and Kings have several attendants, Jurao has only Feyl - which speaks mostly to the fact that Jurao enjoys their friendship and would find more attendants as too troublesome.   Feyl is well aware of this side of his friend, and instead uses his own collection of attendants to manage the work that would normally be split between him and other attendants. Mainly, maintaining Jurao’s socio-political connections with other nobles and keeping aware of any burgeoning issues in the court.
