Archmage

The title of Archmage is, for the majority of techmages, the highest rank that they can achieve in their lifetime. To be an archmage is to be at the top tier of Magocracy society. It is the archmages who tend to fill the highest political offices and who are regarded across society as wise advisors in a variety of roles and places. Even within the aristocratic society of Mozoroi, the title of Archmage must be earned through total mastery of a chosen field of study - only the those absolutely dedicated to the Great Work of the Universe and the path of the techmage will be able to earn the rank of Archmage.

Appointment

Once a techmage has passed all of the requirements, they will undergo the Conferment Ceremony. Poetically called the Rite of Mantling, the ceremony takes place in one of the major sacred temples in whichever locale the mage is from or specifically requests. During the Rite, a venerable Archmage (a very old and distinguished Archmage) will lead the ceremony which ends with the placing of an archmage's mantle on the techmage.

Accoutrements & Equipment

The primary item of dress that marks an archmage is their Mantle. This is an elaborate cape/robe with the symbol of the techmage's chosen Cult of study emblazoned on prominently along with a personal seal and a design that is the traditional marker of an archmage.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

In order to have the title of Archmage be stripped from them, a techmage typically must show incompetence in the field of their choosing. Since the point of the rank is mastery, this implies corruption which allowed the title to be bestowed improperly. That said, total negligence in their duties or abuse of the authority and privilege's granted to an archmage will also see the title be revoked.

Length of Term

Once earned, a techmage will retain the title until death or revocation.
