The Techno-Magocracy of the Dolezar

Millennia ago they came. Alien Invaders came from the heavens and shattered the Old World and all its great works. The Ancestors tried and failed to fend off the Invaders who proceeded to break the Ancestors. The Ancestors who ruled the whole of Carushan. They who could cross their realm in a week. They whose greatest cities scraped the sky. They who reached into the heavens and made colonies upon the moons. The Invaders broke all they could, poisoned the Old World and left back to whence they came. They thought the Ancestors broken beyond recovery.   But they were wrong.   X Many survived the destruction but old wounds burst as the few surviving nations and various groups began warring among each other a few years following the invasion. This lead to the total loss of virtually all technological and theoretical knowledge and all who possessed this knowledge lay dead. Thus civilization on Carushan fully collapsed and regressed to a primitive, tribal existence. The survivors may have stayed in this state for dozens of millennia or longer had not some technology survived the Collapse. Had the Machine Spirits not responded to the first tech-mages. X   The Machine Spirits allowed the Dolezar ancestors to utilize the technology of the Old World and slowly reclaim civilization from the Collapse. Through the tech-mages and the Machine Spirits the Dolezar grew across their continent and then the whole world. Unification was not easy but it was achieved. Now the Magocracy expands across the stars, with colonies in the the home system and other star systems nearby. Only the wormholes allow for quick travel to, and control of, the new colonies around other stars.    Now, as the latter centuries of the third millennium after the Collapse wind down, only time will tell if the Magocracy will continue to remain whole and stable or falter and shatter like the Ancestors before them.
