Saltmarsh Temple of Umberlee and Valkur
The Saltmarsh Temple of Umberlee and Valkur is the sole temple in Saltmarsh.
Though built for the worship of Umberlee, in the 1440s the people of Saltmarsh wanted a temple to Valkur. However, the only options presented were to either tear down the temple of Umberlee and replace it with a new one to Valkur or to add a shrine to Valkur inside the existing temple. Then then-priestess of Umberlee in the temple reluctantly agreed to add a shrine to Valkur in an alcove of the existing temple, which to this day recieves far more attention and gifts than the rest of the building dedicated to Umberlee.
Architecture
The interior of the temple is designed to appear as if the entrants were underwater, with the walls and floor decorated to resemble an underwater ravine. This look is slightly thrown off by the alcove to Valkur, which resembles the interior of a ship.
The most notable piece of the temple is a large salt water fountain at the entrance, blessed by Umberlee. Though normally docile, the fountain has been known to grow agitated upon the intrusion of beings viewed as antithetical to Umberlee entering the temple. For instance, the fire genasi Necian Arrzen was splashed with water every time he visited the temple.
