Marian Brinehand is a water genasi woman and the chief priestess of Umberlee in Saltmarsh, operating out of the town's Temple of Umberlee and Vulkir.
Marian's disposition reflects that of her goddess, cold, standoffish, and disagreeable. However, Marian takes her duties as a priest of Umberlee seriously, worrying that Saltmarsh's increased disrespect for her goddess will bring disaster to the town.

History

Marian was born in 1460 among other water genasi in service of worship to Umberlee.
In the 1480s, Marian was called by Umberlee to take over her temple in Saltmarsh and bring its people back to worshipping her, a task Marian has struggled with.
In 1496, Marian was assisted the Heroes of Saltmarsh when one of their members, Lyra, died, using Speak With Dead in order for Mogran Oredelver to ask questions of her and determining that she still wanted to live.
