Enki's Rest
Enki's Rest is the name for a bluff in Elturel's High District at the end of the Gardens.
It was formally known as Maiden's Leap and was named for High Observer Naja Bellandi, who lept from this bluff into the pool of water below during the Night of the Red Coup to escape Klav Ikaia's vampiric thralls.
In 1497, during the Damnation of Elturel, a ki-rin named Enki settled in the bluff, allowing his magical nature to affect the cliff above, allowing fresh food to be grown and fresh water to spring from the ground, despite the infernal nature of Avernus. Enki, and his rider Thei Linden, who would go on to become the High Rider of Elturel, defended this bluff together in 1498 during the Battle of Elturel, protecting the sick and injured that had gathered there. Following Elturel's salvation, in part to honor the ki-rin and in part due to a distaste for Naja Bellandi after it was revealed that her Pact with Zariel had been the reason for the city's damnation, the bluff was renamed in Enki's honor.
