The Master-At-Arms of the Crown's Guard, Sir Nicholas Chender first comes off as stern and mean, but the more you get to know him you realize he is more socially awkward than he lets on, and doesn't enjoy scolding people. He would always rather fix something himself than scold another for doing it wrong. The only friend he made in the capital was a fellow Knight named Greggory Gompers, but upon his death in 975 Nicholas has become noticablly sadder and tougher on newer knights, especially Greggory's replacement, Sir Addam Fixtorn.

Personal history
Posessing the large frame of his father the boy was given to Lord Leonard Tyfon as a ward where he bonded with Jessica Tyfon, who was his age. Nicholas Squired under The Tyfort's Captain of the Guard, Sir Cynthia Entrevor. He became known for his marshall prowess and eventually rose to become a high ranking knight in the Tyfort. In 949 ASC when Sir Barbara Bumbleton died the royal Crown's Guard needed a member. Jessica Tyfon remembering her childhood friend suggested Sir Nicholas and he was eventually selected.
Education
Squiring under Sir Cynthia Ertrevor, an Orc, Nicholas grew up learning how to use his large frame and great height to his advantage. He was knighted at the age of 19.

Born the son of Rachel Chender and the Tobias Smithen. Rachel Chender was the second child of Lord Fabian Chender, and Tobias Smithen was the son of a wealthy blacksmith named Olga Smithen, together they only ever had one kid.

Nicholas is notoriously bad a communicating, he has become more comforotable around his fellow Crown's Guard member's but is terrible at eye contact and speaking to authority.
