Lady Oleander II

Background:

Gabriella De Luca grew up as the daughter of Isabella "Bella" Donna De Luca, the original Lady Oleander I, and her late Italian-American father, an NYPD police officer. Raised in a home steeped in justice and retribution, Gabriella was keenly aware of her mother’s vigilante lifestyle, but she had a different approach to crime-fighting.

After her father’s death at the hands of the Mafia, Gabriella faced a crossroads between revenge and justice. Her mother, deeply driven by vengeance, taught her the ways of chemistry, poisons, and stealth, preparing her to take up the mantle. However, Gabriella sought a different path, one that emphasized protection over punishment.

When her mother was critically injured in a fight with a Mafia enforcer, Gabriella was forced to step into the role of Lady Oleander. She vowed to continue the fight, but with a focus on compassion, believing that some criminals could be redeemed, unlike her mother’s merciless view of justice.

Her relationship with her mother is complicated. The two women frequently argue about their methods—Gabriella wanting to give people a second chance, while her mother believes in harsh punishments for wrongdoers. Despite their differences, they share a strong bond of love and respect, even if they clash over how to wield the legacy of Lady Oleander.

  Personality:

Gabriella is idealistic, compassionate, and driven by a strong sense of justice. While her mother operates out of vengeance, Gabriella believes in rehabilitation and second chances, seeing the mantle of Lady Oleander as an opportunity to protect the innocent rather than punish the guilty.

Her relationship with her mother is marked by both love and conflict. They share a strong bond, but their fiery tempers often clash over how to handle the criminals they fight. Gabriella respects her mother’s strength but strives to modernize the role of Lady Oleander, moving away from fear and poison and toward a more heroic legacy.

Gabriella is level-headed and strategic, preferring to think before she acts. She’s not afraid to stand up for her beliefs, even if it means going against her mother’s wishes. Her ultimate goal is to prove that the mantle of Lady Oleander can be a force for compassionate justice, as well as a protector of the people.
