Background:
Created during the Cold War as part of the Soviet Union’s Project Koshchei, Deathless was once a decorated Spetsnaz operative known for his loyalty and combat expertise. Named after the mythological Koshchei the Deathless, the project aimed to produce the ultimate super-soldier using a combination of cybernetics and reverse-engineered alien technology. Deathless' transformation left only a small part of his original brain intact, while the rest of his body was replaced with bio-mechanical systems, granting him extraordinary physical capabilities and resilience.
The centerpiece of his transformation was an alien cold fusion reactor, implanted to replace his heart, which provided a near-limitless energy supply to power his enhanced body and integrated nanobots. These nanobots allowed Deathless to generate advanced weaponry from his own body, repair damage, and adapt to any combat situation, making him one of the Soviet Union’s deadliest assets.
However, by the mid-1980s, his ambition outgrew his loyalty to the USSR. Involved in criminal activities for personal gain, Deathless ultimately defected to New Libertalia, a haven for supervillains, where he offered valuable Soviet secrets in exchange for sanctuary.
