The Oyster Chain

A chain of 7 islands in the Southern Hemisphere where the currents change and temperatures cool down, making this stretch of ocean ideal for foraging shellfish and fishing in general. The chain of islands acts both as a trade route and guardian posts of the self-sustaining ecosystems. Although all of the islands are fairly small and hundreds of miles apart from one another, they are all fishing communities that network with one another, communicating primarily through magical means and their albatross posts. The islands in the Oyster Chain are: Guppy's Point, then 140 miles away is Catfish Paradise. Sail another 220 miles and you will reach Minnow Reef. After another 150 miles, you will reach the shores of Megalodon's Bite. The next island, also 150 miles away, is called Perch Island. Sweetfish Retreat is the next island in the chain, 140 miles away, but then only 40 miles away from the 7th island, The Marlin's Sword. Sweetfish Retreat and The Marlin's Sword are considered the end of the trade chain and where the product gets sent out on merchant boats into the rest of the world. The Oyster Chain also trade routes all through its own waters, and the islands help to bolster and maintain one another. Each island has a Water Market, which is a trade hub of boat merchants and shops on stilts in the water that shoppers sail up to. The boat merchants tend to travel up and down the chain to keep up their business and have their own small nomadic guild. Sometimes they also trade with The Makara Isles and Eastern Shards, but uncommon and rare items tend to be more expensive out there simply due to how remote they are.
