Royal Conservatory of Chanting

The Conservatory is the oldest educational establishment in Veiama. It began as a small school 400 years ago along the coast of Kaleina. Unlike most formal institutions for learning chanting, it has always been run by secular teachers, not druids.   The Conservatory grew into a prestigious school, with prospective students coming from across Veiama. A degree from the Conservatory came to be seen as a mark of trustworthiness: a chanter who graduated from the Conservatory reliably knows what they are doing and can be hired to perform magic.   300 years ago, they began issuing silver rings with the crest of the Conservatory that could be used to prove the person is a true graduate. Other schools in Veiama quickly began following suit, and although there wasn't quite as much mystique around other schools, it became accepted that a chanter offering their services for money had better have a ring to prove they're legit.   This practice was codified in Kaleina 515, when it became illegal to accept money for chanting without having trained at an officially recognized conservatory.   The Conservatory moved to Fiana after the Forest came, and re-established themselves in a new building in Kaleina's new captal. They have two satellite campuses, in Halai and Pauvahäs.
