There are no requirements since it is often done by the poor and unfortunate.

What they find in the sewers is what their paid for or they sell what they find if it is of any value.

They actually make more money then most other lower class jobs.

Purpose

It is only done by the desperate that are just getting by just to survive

Social Status

It consider a disgusting job and most people consider nothing more then scavengers by many. Some are even robbed as they exit the sewers and take what they found.

Demographics

Their are not that many people that actually do this for a living, the actual estate of how many people actually do this said to be around fifty thousand at best.

History

Origins

It is said that that the first Gutter Rats appeared as the first of the major cites were made in the west of Kineth. The one who started the job were the homeless that lived in the sewers of the cites and started looking for things to survive on. Many would find coins and other valuables as they came down from drains and many of them mange to make as dissent living and continues to savage the sewers even after they left them. But as time passed, no one really bothered with them and it would go on for a long time to come. But not all would survive the doing this and it was often only done by those who didn't care and just wanted to find treasure.  
  • Changing with the times
As time went on and their lively hood consider illegal, many of them went out at night to find their treasure, and often in groups since the sewers became more and more dangerous as time went on. Often moving around in groups of three to four at a time as they journey through the sewers. They also started to wear leather clothing to better protect themselves in the sewers from disease and infection. Those who didn't get caught still made a good living with it.  
  • Today
  Their are still people who are still in this line of work, but their numbers are dwindling due to better jobs being available for people and they are slowly dying out. But as long as their is treasure in the sewers there will be Gutter Rats to look for it.

Tools

  • Lantern: To make their way in the dark tunnels
  • Pan: used to seperate valuable from waste
  • Pole: is around seven or eight feet, often used move garbage to find treasure or to get them out of a quagmire
  • Large bag: often for things of value that find
Clothing: They often wear leather clothing, along with boots, gloves, a apron, and a hate.

Workplace

The sewers can differ from place to place, but most of it is done in large cities since it was more likely to find something in the sewers there then a large town.

Dangers & Hazards

  • Deteriorating tunnel collapsing on ones self, either killing you or burying you alive
  • Getting lost in the sewers never to find a way out
  • sufficate from noxious fumes or foul air from waste
  • Drowning from rising water when it rained as the sewers flooded
  • Getting sick from rat bites or being eaten alive by them when they are in swarms
  • Getting stuck and suffocating in quagmires
  • Kill by something more dangerous that lives in the sewers

Legality
It is consider illegal since because of the dangers that come with the sewers and their have been some case of them helping criminal getting through the sewer or helping enemy soldiers to get into the cites from money. Not to mention that those who die in the sewers often attract creature that cultish in darkness and use them as food, only to later head to the surface when food becomes scarce. They are often fined heavily or imprisoned if caught. Which is why it is mostly done at night when no one can see them.
