Session 10: A new Land

General Summary

The Party awoke in a new, unknown land, covered in snow and blizzards. A friendly dwarf approached on a dog-led-slede and invited them to rest within his cabin in the ruined remains of Frosthavn in Astuiria. Warming up in his rustic but cosy home, the party listened to Einar Coldshade exposition about the land they have been teleported to, mentioning the Ashen Revolt, and the new conflict dividing Nordrykke Kingdom and Velkravya. He offers them to stay the night in his place and constructs some makeshift beds for them around his wood stove.

The Party spends the next day helping Einar to gather food, herbs, wood and other materials. Brokkr tries to replicate the dog sledge and improve on the design with a makeshift combustion engine, he aims to use as propulsion. Failing at this ambition, he at least managed to make a brazier that can keep the passagers warm.

Again they spend a night at the cabin, but this time, @Misa Mu gets awoken at night from einar, who shrieks and drops his candleholder. Turning around, Misa sees a large monstrosity looming above Gerrith Garrick sucking his vitality. She quickly wakes up Brokkr and @Starspark, which gains the attention of the Restless and starts a fight.

The Party manages to win the fight, but destroys the cabin in the process. It is even unclear if they managed to definitefly kill the creature that was after Gerrith. Facing little other option, Einar agreed to travel south with them towards Skarlstad.

On the way, as they approach a hilly area, they notice the sound of a fierce clash in the distant. Gerrith silently scouted ahead and recognised brigands of the Rebirth Conclave ambushing soldiers of the Nordrykke Kingdom. After debating with the party, they decided to move on without getting involved.

Finally, they reach the entrance of the valley within which the Myrkyver Woods rest. They ditched the sledges and followed a hiking trail down to the Silverpine Lake where they found a seemingly abandoned cabin close to the lake. They enter despite the "Keep Out!" warning on the door and find a recently abandoned home with a stuffed storage room filled with fishing equipment, holdable food, and two potions sitting on a shelf. As Brokkr tries to shuffle everything into his suitcase of holding, a black Norwegian forest cat jumps in and slashes at him, trying to keep anyone from touching the storage. After some shenanigans, Gerrith, speaker to small beasts, remembers that he can speak with small beasts and communicates with the cat.

It turns out that this cat used to be the owner and fishermen of this cabin, and he blames a witch of inflicting a curse upon him. Misa tries to remove the curse but realises that the magi used on him is unlike any curses she had seen before and is thus unable to resolve the issue. The Group agreed to confront the supposed witch, while Einar stays back at the cabin.
