Elementals

'Fire, earth, water, and air. All the ingredients for life. You don't realise just how fundamental they are, until you see that life can be made just of them. It's rare to see elementals in our plane, but not impossible - I dealt with an air elemental when I was barely a journeyman.' - Kellen, wizard
Adjacent to the Material Plane, the physical world, are the Elemental Planes - dimensions composed almost entirely of water, earth, fire, and air. The strange beings inhabiting these realms are known as the elementals, vague forms composed entirely of their element. Typically, these beings are found exclusively in the roiling Elemental Planes, constantly warring with those of the other elements, but they may enter the Material Plane when summoned by spellcasters, or slip through in places where the veil between planes is particularly thin. In the Material Plane, they may be hostile, or may be benevolent, and can be bargained with by the daring.

Basic Information

Ecology and Habitats

Elementals are native to the Elemental Planes. On the Material Plane, they prefer areas closely linked to their element - earth elementals prefer to be underground, for example.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Elementals may require sustenance depending on their form - fire elementals may require fuel, water elementals water, and earth elementals may eat rocks.

Biological Cycle

The reproduction of elementals is largely unknown. It is known that, when killed, they eventually reform on their native plane, making them effectively immortal.
