Changelings
'I do not have a true face - they are all my true face. I am Umehorn the elven wizard, Ammyr Blackmetal the dwarf smith, Rowgye the orc warrior, and a dozen more. My 'true' face is a blank slate, an empty canvas on which I may apply my masks. If you truly wish to know... my mother named me Vous. I suppose that is my true name.' - Vous, changelingSometimes, a disguised doppelganger will mate with a mortal woman, and she will fall pregnant. The child, when born, will be a changeling - a partial shapechanger, with aspects of both their mortal parent and the doppelganger. In their true form, their skin is like white porcelain, their face a featureless mask, their voice distant and vague. Notably, in their true form, they all appear to be female - it is presumed that this is some byproduct of their unusual conception. However, it is rare to see a doppelganger in their true form - they can assume a form of any individual they choose, within the limits of their humanoid body plan. Many will have a number of identities, changing their personality alongside their appearance, or will use their shapechanging to express emotions with dedicated faces. Some will even stay in a single form for most of their lives, and may not even be aware that they are shapechangers.
