The Old Zalantar Wood
This wood is better to avoid at night if at all possible. The nearby small town of Oakhurst once went by a different name (New Zalantar), back when it was primarily a lumber town. However, after the 'Event' there, many of the lucrative woods died off leaving the oaks as the only thing worth anything. The Event was so terrible that the people there had to re-brand the town or risk never having traders come through. It also left many with the impression that werewolves, vampires, and ghosts could be found roaming about. It is confirmed however that these usually small creatures called 'twig blights' can be found wandering at night. They have proven themselves pretty dangerous in 'packs'.
Geography
If starting in the south east and traveling towards the north west, one will find a gradual incline as one travels, with spurts of steeper inclines. There are a few small ponds that are connected by underground creeks.
Fauna & Flora
There are many dying and dead old trees. Some can still be made out to be wierwood and blackwood. There are many trees that are alive as well, mostly oak with spruces, birches and maples sprinkled throughout.
Natural Resources
The area is harvested mostly for it Oak Trees to make lumber and mushrooms that grow around the ponds. Hunter's can find plenty of deer, quail, and wild boar.
