The people of The Republic know that they are the gateway to the rest of the old Terran Mandate, and fear the aggression of the highly militaristic New Terran Mandate. The Republic is also wary nearby Hadrax Combine, a secretive technocracy, as the garden world of Renaissance has the most intact Jump Gate frame in the sector; A large technological prize.
