The Memento

"The Memento" is the casual name given to the relic kept at the Hospital of the Hallowed Patrick, known for its legendary miraculous healing powers—even if those miraculous healings occurred only in history or legend.
Some attribute the object to the Hallowed Patrick himself, but its design does not suggest an origin local to the revered holy man and the hospital. Rather, it bears more of a resemblence to several other amulets found in temple treasuries across Sayinia. The Memento consists of an orange eye, made of an unidentified jewel, set in intricately worked metal and metal wire.
Any healing aid the amulet may once have offered, as described in legend and story, have long gone. While its reputation persists and many come to the hospital seeking its power, physickers agree that it is no more than a trinket. In cases where the patient (or the family) is too distraught to listen to reason, or when the strain of reality may endanger the patient, caretakers may give the patient the Memento, or another object they present as the legendary Memento, to calm them and offer a semblance of peace and even a bit of hope.

Raw materials & Components

What at first glance appears to be precious metal and a masterwork of semi-precious stonecutting and resinwork is in fact an actual eye preserved in a masterwork of a different kind.
