The Empire of the Sun

One of the "Successor Kingdoms", the Empire of the Sun controls a vast amount of area in the temperate regions of the cradle of seasons. Almost exclusively Summer and Springlands.
The people are generally considered friendly and jolly, with an air of flamboyance and dash that perpetuates across the different kingdoms. It's collection of component kingdoms and nations spreads over half it's home continent, as well as across the ocean to other continents.
The groundwork for the formation of the Empire was forged in the days of the War of the Wyrms and it built itself well out of its neighbors. It has stood strong every since, with it's military might and shrewd lawmaking, it has managed to maintain a strong central structure while keeping discontent down.
The Imperial Regent does have some power, mostly provided by on-paper command of the Imperial Army, a force of volunteer soldiers who are sworn to uphold the Empire itself. Within that statement lies the problem. It is not unheard of for the Imperial Army to refuse deployment, disobey orders, and even turn on the Regent if they believe their orders are not in the best interest of the political structures of the Empire. The idea of what is good for the Empire and it's people, of course, can change person to person but it remains within a Regent's best interest to keep the Imperial Army happy.
