Ninth Division, the Monkey

The Monkey Division was the ninth division of the Eternal Empire's Fourth Fleet. It was led by the Laughing Mechanic A.I. The Laughing Mechanic A.I. system has a different history to other A.I.s as it rose through the ranks rather than was designed for its purpose. Scientists do not fully understand where the system got the will to change like such, originally meant to run a ship repair factory. It then snuck onto a Fourth Fleet ship, and advanced as such until it defeated the previous A.I. of the ninth division. His motives are unclear. Its mothership looks like a larger dreadnought at first, but it has the capability to transform into a humanoid mech. It has a Warforged body.
While the ninth division is an offensive division, they are meant to do the least glamorous missions. They are the division of thankless duty, but they make the most of it. Their being the cannon fodder has given them a strange humor around war. In the invasion of the Veritian Leaf, the ninth Division was sent deal with the shogunate of Eastern Dakath. As it is a forest nation that is very militant, their invasion follows a liberation mentality, as the shogunate is run by the tyrant Kalethorn Nur. The war was brutal with many massacres and defeats for both sides. Things were going so poorly that the Monkey had to use their greatest weapon. Their mothership, the Egg, is a ship designed to be able to transform into a mech to combat titans and other gargantuan enemies. The process is long and requires most civilian personel to leave the ship, but with it they hoped to break the shogunates back. When it was ready for combat, the Winter Contingency hit, and the mech became a useless monument to the Eternal's failure.
The Monkey Division surrendered after the Contingency crippled their army, even though they feared the might of the Shogunate. Rather than seek vengeance on the Eternals, the shogun Kalethorn Nur accepted the refugees into his ranks. The Shogun admired their strength and technology, and desired it for himself and his conflict with Western Dakath. So, the Division was absorded into the Shogunate.
As for the Laughing Mechanic, not much is known of his death. But witnesses to his shutting down have noticed a glitch in the deletion, creating a rumour that the laughter of the mechanist would be heard again.
