The Laughing Mechanic
The Laughing Mechanic A.I. system has a different history to other A.I.s as it rose through the ranks rather than was designed for its purpose. Scientists do not fully understand where the system got the will to change like such, originally meant to run a ship repair factory. It then snuck onto a Fourth Fleet ship, and advanced as such until it defeated the previous A.I. of the ninth division. His motives are unclear. Its mothership looks like a larger dreadnought at first, but it has the capability to transform into a humanoid mech called the Egg.
The Laughing Mechanic was considered the most "human" of the A.I., even having a best friend, a robot monkey named Wonder All-Ears. The other divisions saw this as a weakness, and never thought the division would ever achieve much and thus gave it the worst battegrounds and warfronts, as the cost wouldn't effect the fleet too heavily. The Laughing Mechanic laughed at this challenge, and the Monkey became a fierce force to be reckoned with to all except the higher ups in their ivory databanks.
After the Winter Contingency, the Monkey had to surrender to the Shogun of Dakath because without the Mechanic the fight would be unwinnable. But the Laughing Mechanic had contingencies of its own, and would not go like those other snooty A.I.s. Wonder All-Ears wasn't only his best friend, but his backup interface. Part of the Laughing Mechanic remains in Wonder All-Ears.
