Dingus Rockharvest

Dingus was the creation of Jaden Schaap.   Dingus Rockharvest is a dwarf bard from the Bludgeon Halls. He was a member of the Happy Clappers entertainment troupe, but after the death of his wife Dingloris, he had a falling out with them. He was in Vigil during the Dormant incident, and joined the party of adventurers that saved the town. He stuck with them until Felicity, and helped with the conflict with the Neih's Breath conflict where they killed Tommy Drummer, the leader of the troupe. He separated from the group after that, as the declared new leader of Neih's Breath was Dingloris Rockharvest. With this knowledge, Dingus set out to the Bludgeon Halls to discover what this was all about.   Before he could find his wife, Dingus was killed by Happy Clapper assassins.

Personal history

A dwarf of modest beginnings, Dingus ignored the path laid before him by his family at the Sugar Mines to follow a career in the arts and music. Little did they know the fame and fortune he would acquire following the loftier pursuits, as he was disowned and promptly forfeited from any share in the mines, leaving him only an ornate brooch to remind him of their rejection. He travelled to Bludgeon Halls, the capital of the dwarf country of the same name, where he joined one of the three travelling troupes that traverse the civilized regions of Neih, The Happy Clappers. Starting out as a hapless usher to their concerts, he sat at the feet of great musicians and learned his Bardic trade.   His talent was natural, and his fame quickly became renown throughout the Bludgeon Halls, but The Happy Clappers thought his style to be too dwarvish (heavy metal) for their clientele outside of the Bludgeon Halls, so they placed him in charge of the Bludgeon Halls branch of their troupe and left him to freely pursue his fame as long as he continued to honour the Happy Clappers name.   Dingus became a regular performer at the crossroads town of Promenades Inn, entertaining dwarves from throughout Bludgeon Halls. One fine night, after he performed the opening act to wondrous applause, a dwarf woman named Dingloris performed next singing a song that won his heart. She was a member of the Neih’s Breath troupe, but he looked past the historical animosity he had with those rivals and endeavoured to win this maiden’s heart.   They married in secret, both maintaining a social image of troupe member while enjoying each other’s love. They lived this way for several years. But, one unfortunate evening they were caught by a bard from the Heels and Laughter troupe (the third world famous troupe) who quickly guess the clandestine story of their love. His name was Regulor, and he wrote a song of their story that spread to all parts of Neih. This brought the anger of the troupes upon them.   While attempting damage control with his troupe members, Dingloris was killed. Dingus returned home to find his wife dead with an arrow in her lifeless form. Taking a lock of her hair, he fell into a period of despair which played out in his music. His fame maintained a steady pace, but it could no longer satisfy him. Depressed, he thought about quitting the troupe life and returning to his father’s mines. That’s when he got a letter from Regulor, which both apologized for his part in the whole affair, but also an invitation to Vigil, where he is currently the personal minstrel to Lord Clearseeker. He has information concerning Dingus’ wife.   He sets out to the country of Tumult and arrives in Vigil to find the cause for his wife’s death and avenge her. This is when he got caught up in Tumult's many issues with the Dormant Cult and Demon Troubles, as he joined a group of adventurers who got caught up in all those issues. While in Felicity, things changed after the killing of Tommy Drummer which set him back upon the path of discovering what was going on between the Neih's Breath and Happy Clappers entertainment troupes.
