Asmodeus
Asmodeus is a devil from the Lesser Realms. His history and motives in the Lesser Realms are not that important to the Path to Veritas. What is important is Asmodeus' attempt to infiltrate Neih via the Veritian Leaf in the Demon Troubles of 1030-1040. He was expelled by Neih in the Battle for Dusk.

Divine Goals & Aspirations
Asmodeus had no aspirations in conquering Neih's territory. What he really wanted was to kill Neih itself and consume its power. Asmodeus has a claim on the souls of the atheist, and the cosmic tree is a renown disbeliever of gods (despite having celestials at his beck and call). There is no precedent of one of Neih ever dying, so it is unknown if Asmodeus would have got what he desired if he succeeded. Despite his power in his own realm, on Neih he never got close to truly opposing its pantheon.
During the Demon Troubles, Asmodeus showed up on two occasions, but otherwise had servants do his bidding. The first was in the Devastation of Crossroads, where he made deals with the group of adventurers who foiled his plans there in exchange for shutting the portal. This led to later problems in Felicity, to Asmodeus' great pleasure, but it was ultimately cleansed and his mark exorcised.
The second time was after having lost his main servant, the Lady of Dusk. All his connections to Veritas were being closed, having lost his portals in Gilburrow, Crossroads, Felicity and the lesser known one in Dr. Caskajaro's castle (though Caskajaro was no ally to the demons). He thus sent an avatar into Veritas (deities cannot bring their whole form into Neih, Neih does not allow it. Only fragments or echos of their being could enter, and even that receives Neih's wrath). In the central square of Dusk, with two gargantuan snakes breathing fire at his side, Asmodeus fought to keep his portal open. He was defeated by a group of adventurers, one of which was the contender to the throne of Tumult. A rift closer from Dakath called Illidan got the final blow. After the avatar was defeated, one Librarian Coldshore, turned wooden by Neih, shut the rift over the city when he detonated into an tree explosion of Neihite power. A giant tree cut off at the top when the portal shut stands as marker of Asmodeus' defeat.
Though there are still surviving demon worshippers in hiding, their power has been greatly checked with Neih forbidding connection between its own plane and the Nine Hells. But one mark of Asmodeus remains, tucked away in the Gladden Falls Asylum for the Criminally Insane, carried by the kingkiller Gloranna.
