Old Temple to Stayn
This article is narrated by Hailey Augustin
Over in old town, there's a temple to one of the old gods. Dad says there are temples like it all over the world. I guess they're the gods the original magic users worshipped. Dad says some of their old symbols evolved into the ones we use when working Tenganaw magic, but nobody worships them anymore. The temple in Rayl is run by the Historical Society.
This temple is dedicated to Stayn, the old god of fabric, and it's a pretty big building, so I guess fabric must have been pretty important for people in Rayl. It's mostly stone, with these long arched hallways that form a square. On one side, all the doors lead to this big open-air courtyard in the middle. The historical society hosts an auction there every year. I only know about it because Mr. Ashford always goes. (The Librarian always sends someone too, but I only recently learned that.) I guess they used to worship there or something because on one of the walls there's a big mural of Stayn weaving the fabric of the universe.
On the other side of the hallways, there are doors that lead to other rooms. The historical society has made some of the bigger ones into a museum. Dad thinks one of the big rooms might have been a kitchen once because people probably lived in the smaller ones. He says it might have even been a refuge for magic users during the Magic War. When I brought that frog to life from Ashford's Antiques, me and Tollak eventually found it hanging out in one of those rooms. She was glad no one had noticed it come hopping through. I was just frustrated I couldn't figure out how to make it go back to sleep.

Sit down, my friend, and let me tell you of Aran'sha . A world where the sands shift and the stars sing, where the wind carries secrets and the twin moons keep silent vigil over it all.
