A cautious thief from Vulyar who bounces between caution and impulsiveness, struggling to understand and break a shapeshifting curse that forces her into the form of a cat.
A transient thief from southern Karrnath, Katarina grew up in the rural area around Vulyar, eventually moving to the city to find work and a good future. Instead, she fell in with Bao, the leader of a local thieving crew, and honed her skills in pickpocketing and second-story work. This future fell apart after she crossed Madam Sawbones, a local black-market healer. After a theft made Sawbones look bad in front of her mentor, the healer revealed herself as a hag, and together the pair cursed Katarina.
Finding that she now uncontrollably shifts between a human form and that of a housecat, her life quickly collapsed. Unable to work reliably, hold onto possessions or travel safely, she fell into a transient life of solo criminal work, trying to understand and break the curse.
