Riverlands
The riverlands were from the earliest days of mortal races home to mankind. The fertile soil enabled them to grow food and keep animals to ensure a safe supply of food, allowing them to multiply and develop. The many woods in the river-plain soon felt the bite of their axes and saws. Along the main river and its many joining rivers settlemets sprouted and grew quickly, soon developing to major cities. During the last years of the long peace, it is said that one can ship down from the headwaters to the sea and always see at least a hundred buildings.
Culture
As the wealth of men in the rivervalley grows, so does their culture. They beging to develop a public code to behave by.
History
The riverlands were given to mankind by the gods as home.
Agriculture & Industry
Mankind starts as a strong agricultural power due to the rich soils of the riverlands. But beeing a race proned to envy, they soon begin to mine the moutains for stone and precious gems and hew down trees to built mighty ships.
Trade & Transport
In the riverlands, the rivers are the main way of transportation. Wide roads lead alongside them for carts going upstream, while great quantities of goods come downstream on ships and rafts. More roads lead to the other major cities that cannot be reached by ship or raft. In the harbour of the capital Kalormenos goods from anywhere in the world can be had. Yet it is not quite as big as the dark elven harbour further west or the long harbour in first haven bay for it is to far from the outer sea. Mostly trade from the inner sea is handled here. The ships from first haven bay usually carry luxury articles and on the way back act as people carrier ships.
The most well known road through the riverlands is the south-north road. It passes all the way from the dark elven lands down to the lake Miggen. Some say it even goes further on to the lands of the light elves but only few dare to cross the land between the great desert and the fire mountains.
