Vanich

I may be biased because he's my friend, but I think Vanich is going to be the most talented Water Seeker of our generation. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he becomes the next Dancinglight.

Vanich is the youngest of the Proto-Seekers at The Eddy, but has spent the most time there. As a consequence of bitter animosity between his parents, he alternates years living at the Eddy and on Ralcondray.

Personal history

Vanich first left Ralcondray as a baby, when his mother took him without consulting his father. This occurred exactly when the Allied Isles were attempting to establish relations with Ralcondray, and they were blamed for his disappearance. The furor was so serious that part of the agreement eventually negotiated between Ralcondray and the Allied Isles included Vanich's alternating living schedule as a required condition.

Education

For his age, Vanich is incredibly knowledgeable about water work. Nowadays the Eddy doesn't take protos younger than fifteen, but since he was already living here half the time with his mother, he began learning Water Seeker skills when he was ten. At the same time, he's been taught water handling during his turns on Ralcondray since a whole five years earlier than that. But even though he's had so much training, he's still not allowed to take the title of Water Seeker until he's twenty.

Family Ties

Vanich's parents no longer have any relationship with each other. Their marriage detonated well before it was set to expire. His mother is a Water Seeker residing permanently at the Eddy, and his father is a duck handler who is not allowed to leave Ralcondray. Neither parent is allowed to speak to him about the other.
