The Yearning Locket is a cursed item and serves as a prison for an unknown demon, imprisoned there long ago by a priest of the Morninglord. The priest had hoped to keep the demon away from harming people in this way, but whereas the man died of old age, the demon has no such limitations. Hundreds of years passed until a young orphan found a locket on the shore of Lake Zarovich.
A week after obtaining the locket, the demonic influences corrupt the holder and the two become bound. The holder will first become protective of the locket, as the bond between the two strengthens. As another week passes, the bearer will start to seek out sources of life, and attempt to drain small amounts as to feed the demon. In the third week, the bearer will search for large amounts of life and make an effort to free the demon from its prison.
The bearer can call upon the demon to shield them from any damage for a few seconds, at the cost of their own life force. This life force isn't returned until the curse is broken, the locket is forcefully taken, or the locket is destroyed.

Gix Garrix and Andrius first encountered the locket as they investigated the disappearance of the Bones of Saint Andral. Gix Garrix deftly stole the locket from the orphan with a well-placed hookshot, keeping the locket on him afterwards.
