Fortress Island
A mountainous island located in the Eastern Sea. It has a single bay protected from the elements as well as the only means of access to the island. Due to its location and inaccessibility, it became the ideal spot for the Eastern Sea Traders to establish their headquarters there.
Geography
This island was created when after a volcanic eruption that took out one side of the cone. The result was a natural inlet and harbor into the interior of the cone. The remaining sides maintained their steepness which offered a protection for those inside the cone. The volcano has no recorded eruptions since its discovery and is apparently dormant. There is a constant up pressure of water from deep within the caldera which provides extra protection to the harbor. This pressure causes a constant current that constantly pushes out of the harbor into the sea. Only when the tides are right can ships safely enter the harbor without fear of being pushed in the rocks that surround the mouth of the harbor.
Fauna & Flora
Most of the island consists of just volcanic rock and dirt with very little in the way of plant life. Very little fresh water can be found on the island as well, except for a large artisian fresh water spring on the interior side of the cone. This is where the city natural formed as it became an ideal way to send water to the various districts of the city.
Natural Resources
No known resources have been found on the island. Everything needed for survival and city life is brought in by traders.
