Tidran is an Exacting Arkus who Brandishes an Exotic Shield

Bio: Tidran, he might be a natural leader but few understand the edge in his voice or how he can perceive when friends or foes are lying to him.

Tidran and his sister were all each other had. They were found by a merchant convoy in Bracewell in the Plains of Kataru. They were too young to remember any details. The convoy left them at the next town, Habiru. The town bard, Veeren Hawe, took the brother and sister in and raised them. Growing up Tidran caught on easily to the ways of a bard and found that people naturally followed him. Using persuasion so easily caused Tidran to become conceited and overly confident in his ability to complete any task. If he didn’t know what to do, he would talk his way out or convince others to help him, all the while making it seem like he was helping them. Using persuasion was so much easier than fighting the other boys in the village so Tidran became adept at forestalling confrontation with a conversation. When that didn’t work he resorted to dodging and blocking blows until his foe grew tired and bored of the contest.

Habiru had a tower device that could be used to send extremely focused light and sound waves at a target. The village used it to drive away the approaching beasts from the town. The townspeople knew enough to work the controls but did not understand anything more. One day when the brother and sister were teens, the tower device stopped working. A few days later a group of ravage bears attacked a group of hunters near the town. The surviving hunters made it back to town just ahead of the ravage bears hoping to be protected by the tower. The small town had no engineers who could even hope to understand the device. Tidran convinced the town to let him attempt to fix the tower, using his skills of persuasion to fake his way. Tidran was able to figure out a few things by luck just as the ravage bears started attacking the village defenders. But just as he got close to the “power crystal” he got cocky. With a dramatic flourish he exclaimed “Voila” and touched the tower casing with a cluster of wires instead of the conduit opening. Tidran was thrown to the ground by the energy cascading through the material, but miraculously the tower flared back to life... but the targeting screen was still blank as the tower sent blinding light and deafening sound waves in every direction. Tidran’s sister, Cass, had been standing by him the entire time asking him to be more careful with such a powerful and delicate device. The tower had driven off the ravage bears but was not turning off. As the tower blinded and deafened everyone she grabbed the wires yanking them off the casing and jamming them into the conduit opening.

Suddenly the power crystal split, exploding out of its shielded container sending shards out toward the sister. The shards struck her in the face and in the palms of her hastily raised hands.

Tidran ran toward his sister and caught her as she was about to collapse onto the floor…
