The Freedom Wars

Written by Lucious Ruby

T

he Freedom Wars were a series of skirmishes that attacked the mines, communities, and trade ports and created havoc in the New Realm. The beta folk rebelled against their alpha leader, King Tourmaline, because of his lack of interest in the beta folk's needs.

When Did the skirmishes Begin?

  S

kirmishes broke out when Beta Aventurine passed, and King Tourmaline seized all of his assets. The alpha's decision outraged an omega in the community, prompting her to start a rebellion. The folk had experienced multiple events similar to this and also had enough.

Events Preceding the Wars

  M

ultiple alpha lords of the lands were seizing the wealth of the beta folk and subsequently collecting multiple estates. Since the beta folk died at an early age compared to the alpha leaders, this was an easy and efficient way of collecting wealth. The alphas were seizing estates and evicting the beta residents from their homes and replacing them with loyal betas followers.

The Leader of the Revolt

  T

he uprising was initiated by a young omega who was acquainted with the daughters of Beta Aventurine. Her name was Omega Inanna. Although she was not their daughter, Beta Aventurine raised Omega Inanna as his own. There are no recounts of her biological family. What we know is that she received equal attention and excelled in her education, which was unusual for the time. All accounts said that she had a happy childhood. Even more remarkable than Omega Inanna's intellect was her warfare training. During this period, cultural norms were vastly fluctuating. Politics divided folk between the matriarchal society of the Old Earth and the patriarchal system of the New Realm. From a patriarchal perspective, supporters forbad females from participating in any physical training. Beta Aventurine publicly supported the matriarchal traditions and refused to comply with the opposition. He encouraged Omega Inanna to continue to follow her training and studies and provided the best support for the omega.

Skirmishes Spread Through the Realm

  W

hile King Tourmaline was away, Omega Inanna traveled to beta villages, gaining support and money for the campaign. As she travelled throughout the Realm, she amassed a huge following of about 10,000, which was significant for the time. Omega Inanna blocked grain production and distribution. She also used the skirmishers to create a divide among the alphas by planting evidence, pointing the raids to other alphas.

The Freedom Treaty

  O

mega Inanna strategical attacked and receded quickly, creating confusion and fear. This forced the alphas to open discussions with the rebels, and they created a treaty that changed the political landscape. The treaty limited the power of the alphas. It protects beta folk, merchants and the unified religion. It also sets a limit on taxes and ensured that they could not punish the folk for crimes without being found guilty first. They signed the treaty and Omega Inanna disappeared from history. Rumors have been circulating since then about her being seen in other villages, but there is no tangible evidence to support this theory.

The Unified Religion’s Persuasion

  A

fter the treaties signing, the leaders of the unified religion still disliked Omega Inanna's impact. They sought to undermine her by creating false narratives. One of them still lingers today. Omega Inanna’s name paid tribute to the Sumerian goddess Inanna, who folk revered as the goddess of love, sexuality, prostitution, and war. Since the treaty, however, folk refer to all prostitutes as "inannas" as an insult to Omega Inanna.
